Memories and Lessons will Always Unforgetable

Lessons Learned from Quarter 1 of ICT 10

ICT 10 is an introduction to Information and Communication Technologies, which covers a wide range of topics related to computing, information systems, and networking. The subject matter is vast and complex, but with dedication and hard work, I have learned a great deal throughout the first quarter of the school year. Here are some of the key lessons I learnt:

1. The History of the Internet: The roots of the internet go back to the ARPANET, which was developed by the US Department of Defense in the 1960s. The internet has evolved over the years, from a military communication network to a global network for communication and commerce. The internet has revolutionized the way we live, work, and interact with each other.

2. The Pioneers of the Internet: The internet would not be what it is today without the visionary minds who have contributed to its development. Some of the pioneers of the internet include Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn, who devised the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP), the cornerstone of the internet.

3. The Philippine Pioneers: The Philippines has produced many great minds in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The country has contributed significantly to the development of the internet, with the Philippine Internet Exchange (PHILIX) being the first international internet gateway in the Philippines. Some of the notable Philippine pioneers inICT include Manuel G. Velarde, who pioneered the first mobile phone system in the Philippines, and Jun Bernales, who co-founded MySite.ph, one of the first Philippine social networking sites.

4. Blogs: Blogs are digital diaries or personal websites that allow users to share their thoughts, opinions, and experiences with the world. The internet has given way to a wide range of blogs that cover a variety of topics from fashion, technology, politics, travel, and more. Blogs provide an opportunity for people to express themselves and connect with like-minded individuals.

In summary, quarter 1 of ICT 10 has taught me a great deal about the history, pioneers, and uses of the internet. The lessons learned in this quarter will serve as a foundation for my future studies in ICT.

Clean and Green for the Future of our Community

Clean and Green for the Future of Our Community

In recent years, there has been a growing concern about the negative impact of human activities on the environment. From pollution to deforestation, the consequences of our actions are apparent in the deteriorating quality of our air, water, and soil. As a community that is interconnected, we must work together to ensure a sustainable future.

One of the ways we can do this is by implementing practical and cost-effective solutions in our daily lives. By becoming more environmentally conscious, we can do our part in creating a cleaner and greener community for everyone. In this blog, we will explore some practical and affordable solutions that are simple and easy to implement.

     Chapter 1: Adopt a zero-waste lifestyle

The first step towards creating a more sustainable community is to adopt a zero-waste lifestyle. This means reducing the amount of garbage we produce by minimizing the use of single-use items, recycling, and composting food waste. This not only reduces waste but also conserves resources, saves money, and creates less pollution.

Chapter 2: Use reusable items

Instead of using single-use items, we can use reusable alternatives. One of the easiest and most effective ways to do this is by using reusable shopping bags and produce bags. These can be used over and over again, helping to reduce the amount of plastic waste generated.

Chapter 3: Plant trees and plants

Planting trees and plants not only adds beauty to our neighborhood but also helps in restoring the natural habitats that have been destroyed because of human activity. This not only cleans the air but also attracts wild animals and birds.

Chapter 4: Conserve water

Water is a finite resource, and we must conserve it for the future generations. Simple habits like not leaving the tap running while brushing our teeth or shaving, taking shorter showers, and limiting the use of the water hose can help in conserving water.

Chapter 5: Use renewable energy

By using renewable energy sources like solar or wind power, we can reduce our dependence on traditional energy sources, which often come from non-renewable resources. This can help reduce the amount of pollution produced, and also, reduce energy costs in the long run.

Creating a clean and green community requires collective efforts from all of us. By implementing some of the solutions mentioned in this blog, we can all do here part in creating a better future for our community and the planet. From adopting a zero-waste lifestyle to planting trees and plants, these simple changes can make a huge difference in the long run. With a little effort, we can create a more sustainable future for our children and grandchildren to enjoy. Let's work together towards this common goal and create a better world for all.

Towards a Resilient Philippines

The Philippine Islands continue to be beset by natural disasters, climate change, and other challenges that threaten the country's stability and prosperity. Yet the spirit of the Filipino people and their determined efforts to overcome these obstacles continue to shine on. This blog aims to celebrate and share these remarkable stories, offering inspiration and motivation to fellow Filipinos as we strive towards a more resilient Philippines.

Chapter One: The Power of Community

In the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, communities came together to help one another. The Bayanihan Spirit, a concept of community cooperation and selflessness, was put into action as Filipinos put aside their differences to help their fellow countrymen in need. We shall explore this spirit and how it played a central role in the recovery and rebuilding process.

Chapter Two: The Resilience of Filipino Youth

Despite the adversities they face, Filipino youth have proven time and time again their capacity for resilience. From dealing with the consequences of COVID-19 to standing up for their beliefs, Filipino youth have shown that they are the future of the Philippines. We will explore the unique challenges and opportunities facing this generation, as well as offer advice on how they can best navigate the turbulent times we live in.

Chapter Three: The Importance of Education and Empowerment

Education is a fundamental tool in the quest towards a more resilient Philippines. But it is not just a matter of having more schools or upgrading existing institutions. Rather, we must empower our youth with the critical thinking skills, digital literacy, and life skills that will enable them to navigate the challenges of the future. We shall delve into the role of education in building a more resilient Philippines, as well as discuss strategies for making education more accessible and equitable.

Chapter Four: The Role of Technology and Innovation

In today's world, technology has become an essential tool for survival and growth. From tele-education to tele-health, technology has proven its worth in helping communities overcome the challenges posed by disasters and other difficult circumstances. In this chapter, we will explore the role technology and innovation can play in building a more resilient Philippines.

Conclusion

The Philippines is a country rich in tradition and culture, with a diverse population and breathtaking landscapes. But we cannot ignore the myriad challenges that threaten our nation's security and prosperity. It is only through the tireless efforts of our communities, the resilience of our youth, and the innovative use of technology that we can strive towards a more resilient Philippines. I invite you to join me in this journey, as we celebrate and share the remarkable stories that prove that with unity, determination, and a positive outlook, we can overcome even the greatest of obstacles. For, as we say in the Philippines, "Walang imposible pag nagkaisa ang mga Pinoy" - "Nothing is impossible when Filipinos come together."

A LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT

                         A LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT

Concerns about inflation

Dear President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.;

                                                                                           https://pin.it/3BkgJQY

I am writing to express my concerns about the high levels of inflation that our country is currently facing. As a citizen, I have seen the impact that rising prices have had on the cost of living and the well-being of my family and community. I understand that the government is working to address this issue, but I believe more can be done to reduce inflation and protect the economy.

One concern I have is the impact of inflation on low-income families, who may struggle to afford basic necessities such as food, housing, and healthcare. The government should prioritize their needs and take action to support them during this challenging time. Another concern I have is the impact of inflation on small businesses, which are vital to the economy and provide goods and services to our communities.

Rising prices may make it difficult for these businesses to stay profitable, which could lead to job losses and reduced economic activity. The government should consider implementing policies to support small businesses and help them survive during this economic period. In addition to these concerns, I believe it is important for the government to be transparent about its actions to address inflation and communicate the impact of these actions to the public.

The government should be accountable to the people it serves and ensure that the actions taken are in the best interests of the country and its citizens.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to hearing your response.

Sincerely,

Eisen Faith D. Evangelista
